Last night was popcorn night at C Street! Every friday night we watch an educational and inspirational movie or documentary that helps us live better lives as men of God. The movies serve to strengthening the resolve of the men in regards to the diet that we strictly follow here which is free of processed junk foods, sugar, chemicals, and gluten. Last night however we watched a movie called A Beautiful Mind starring Russell Crowe. The protagonist here is highly-gifted student at Princeton who starts suffering from schizophrenia and as a result his life turns into chaos and disorder. He does however learns to live with his illness and refers to his delusions as "distractions" and goes on win the Nobel Prize in economics for his contributions to the field.
We learn that we too will have to deal with distractions in this world that will sidetrack us from our walk with God. We have to learn to effectively manage day to day situations and learn to deal with them in a mature manner. This will prevent us from not only giving into our temptations, but also keep us focused on Gods directive will in our life. Studying scripture and fellowship is crucial to reinforce a healthy lifestyle!
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
